a day at the beach...

Ok, so a couple of days at the beach...Since I can't start working til next week I've had a lot more time on my hands so I decided to take advantage of the beach. While it's not that great, it's still the beach! The water is FREEZING though! I may just take advantage of the sun for the time being and start swimming in the Spring. There are a few hard core swimmers out there, but not many. Maybe I'll join 'em... The beach is a grey-sand beach. I've always wanted to go to a black sand beach so I guess I'm building up slowly. I've also started going running along the beach. It's not the same as running out in the desert behind my house (which I LOVED), but it works. There's always tons of people out and about getting their exercise, so I'm not the only one.

The weather is fabulous here! It is mostly sunny with a few clouds coming and going. It rains occasionally, but even still it's pretty warm. The temperature is around 80 degrees during the day and mid-70's in the morning and night. It's funny though cause almost everyone is wearing jackets or long-sleeves and it's not even cold! I don't get it. Of course being on the coast, there is always wind. Makes it nice for laying on the beach though, cause you don't get too hot! Hey, hey, hey! It doesn't get dark here until about 8 pm and I don't know when the sun comes up cause I haven't gotten up early enough to see...I'm starting to fall back into the Spanish lifestyle with going to bed later and getting up later. Back home in Thatcher it was the opposite. I actually liked getting up early. Never thought that day would come...

Ok so I opened up my egg carton (which they don't refrigerate in the store), and there was still chicken feathers stuck to one of the eggs!! Aaaah! Not what I was expecting. Don't worry, I'll still eat it - I'm on a tight budget you know. Haha! I'll just pretend that someone dared me to eat it...works every time! I haven't totally changed my ways for eating to the Spanish lifestyle. I get to hungry and usually end up eating dinner around 7 or 8, a lot earlier than 10 or 11!

Sometimes I feel like I'm in a third world country with feather-covered eggs, 3 choices of salad dressing, trash everywhere and freezing cold showers. Yup, haven't had a warm one yet - ok, so just the other day I figured out what was wrong. Plus Almeria is a little older city, nothing as nice as Alcala de Henares, where I was before. Sorry to break it to you Spain goers - you were in one cool place! Have fun at the reunion by the way...sorry I can't make it! No, I'm loving being here though. It's been great so far!

I LOVE YOU! With chicken feathers or without pointy shoes, I think you're the greatest. You make me laugh. I'm glad you're having some wild adventures!
