I finally got to see my little sister, Sonya!!! It had been about 9 months since I had seen her last…way too long. She is here in Spain in Alcalá de Henares on a BYU Study Abroad. So her group came to Andalucía for the weekend and I met her in Granada.
What a reunion! We had talked on our cell phones and we planned to meet each other, so we were both walking towards each other on the street. But then the rain came down…in torrents!! BUT…I saw her from afar and started running despite the rain. She hadn’t seen me and she was hiding in a little alcove from the rain. I peeked around the corner and yelled DUDE!!! Then we both screamed really loud. Everyone on the street was staring at us of course, but we didn’t care!
It was such a great weekend and fun to hang with my little sis although it rained both days I was there in Granada. Bummer. We walked around the cutest little neighborhood, the Albaicín, which is supposed to be one of the oldest continuously inhabited parts of Europe. There are narrow, curving cobblestone streets on hills covered with white houses lined with colorful flowers and old Arabic doors. Every turn in the road brings a surprise! There is also a spectacular view of the Alhambra. Sonya, I found a good view Saturday morning after you left.

I actually ended up going into part of the Alhambra and saw a little of it, but I didn’t get to see the main parts since I didn’t have a ticket…all sold out. No prob, I was there 2 ½ years ago anyway. Sonya had a big disappointment when she saw the famous lion fountain….no lions! They are being restored. I gave her fair warning though.
Talk about an adventure! Tromping through the city in pouring rain and then that night I camped out with Sonya in her hotel room. We shared a twin bed…haha! And I didn’t even fall off it once! It was a sad parting in the morning…
We met some people from the Netherlands that took our picture and they asked us where we were from. I told them the U.S. and the man said he couldn’t hear my American accent! I’ve lost it forever! Bummer…
So here’s some pictures of Granada and also some of my more artistic attempts with color accents…
Ok, so you can’t laugh at my sense of fashion in this picture…I was walking through puddles, you see, and didn’t want my pants to be soaking wet. Yes, I know I look funny, even other people thought so as well…one dude walked by me laughing at me. He kept looking at me…what was I to do? So I just smiled and waved to him. He sure got a kick out of it!

Oh hermanas!!! How jealous I am of the two of you, together in Espana! But, I will be joining you sooooon! Woo hoo...I can't wait!
So fun!! I love your altered pictures with touches of color. Spain looks so neat. How much longer will you be there? Oh, I voted you should get an MBA in International Business because I thought maybe you would travel to exotic locations, like Spain, for work!
It looks like you guys had a lot of fun despite the rain. I am very jealous!
Kool Pics, Kool Kiddo. Glad your leetle Sis could be there! Love, Tu Papa
